The Buckhorn District Snowmobile Club is based in Buckhorn, Ontario, about 25 minutes north of the City of Peterborough. We are a member club of the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs, and are one of seven clubs making up OFSC District 2.
BDSC volunteers and grooming staff maintain approximately 165 kilometres of trails through varying terrain, from the east shore of Chemong Lake in the south, to the Gooderham area in the north.
The bulk of our trails are in the Municpality of Trent Lakes, in an area of beautiful Canadian Shield forest once known as The Five Points Trail System โ a throwback to the earliest days of organized snowmobiling.
To the west, our trails join those of the Twin Mountains Snowmobile Club in the Bobcaygeon area. On the east side of our system our trails connect with those of the Paudash Trail Blazers and the Stoney Lake Snoriders, leading to the Wilberforce and Apsley areas.
E211
The BDSC volunteers were out on Wednesday to continue the trail clearing south of Parking Lot 1(P1).
It was a warm one so we only went out for about 3+ hours. We were able to get over 1km cleared and made it to the swamp just north of Mississauga Dam Road!๐
There were only a couple of areas that were more challenging but overall it was mostly smaller stuff. Let's hope this trend continues.
The deer and horse flies must have taken the day off๐ but the mosquitoes were working overtime!!๐Not sure if that makes it better. The jury is still out on that one.๐
Big thank you to Perry, Bayne, Don, John, Mark, Gord and Dan!!!๐๐ช๐
We will not be going out next Wednesday as many of us have plans. I will update you when we confirm our next adventure.

E211
The BDSC volunteer gang were out on Wednesday along with an excavator and operator (Steve) from Buckhorn Sand and Gravel(BSG).
We had a great turnout!!
Huge thank you to Jeff, Randy, Perry, Don, Jim, John, Mark, Gord and Dan!!๐๐ช๐
The BDSC team split into 2 groups so we could tackle the trail from both ends and meet in the middle. We took care of the small stuff and cut the big fallen trees down to 6-10' lengths so the excavator could make easy work of them and keep moving up the trail. We left the hangars and leaners for the excavator to deal with and Steve made light work of them. It was a good day!!
We put in a longer day(6-8 hours), as we had the excavator, and we cleared over 4kms! We have now cleared the E211 from the clubhouse to our friends at Upper Canada Stone at the end of Quarry Road!๐
We noticed that the ice storm damage seemed to be less the further north we went. Hopefully that trend continues.๐ค
We are planning to go out next Wednesday July 9th.
Time and location is still to be determined. We will update when we know.
