The Buckhorn District Snowmobile Club is based in Buckhorn, Ontario, about 25 minutes north of the City of Peterborough. We are a member club of the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs, and are one of seven clubs making up OFSC District 2.
BDSC volunteers and grooming staff maintain approximately 165 kilometres of trails through varying terrain, from the east shore of Chemong Lake in the south, to the Gooderham area in the north.
The bulk of our trails are in the Municpality of Trent Lakes, in an area of beautiful Canadian Shield forest once known as The Five Points Trail System – a throwback to the earliest days of organized snowmobiling.
To the west, our trails join those of the Twin Mountains Snowmobile Club in the Bobcaygeon area. On the east side of our system our trails connect with those of the Paudash Trail Blazers and the Stoney Lake Snoriders, leading to the Wilberforce and Apsley areas.
❄️Season End Report❄️
It was a great season until it wasn't.
BDSC would like to give a huge shout out to all of our volunteers who have come out every week since May last year!! Damn, we worked hard!!💪
Collectively, we put in over 1800 volunteer hours clearing over 100kms of our trails from the 2025 March Ice Storm damage!!
Whether you came out once, twice or came out multiple times a week, we appreciate you more than you know!! The trails would not have been open this year without all your efforts!! Be proud!!👊
We still have about 40kms to clear.
Thank you to all the landowners!! 👍👍🙏
Without your generosity, there would be many kms of road running. We appreciate you!!🙏
There is much to do after the trails are closed and it takes many days to do it all.
Most of the end of season work has been completed, ie closing gates/fences, signage and fence removal, groomer/drag maintenance including greasing, cleaning etc..
Still a little bit more to do.
Fun Fact
On the last grooming run of the year in early March, the T6 gave us a bit of attitude as it snapped a few rear wheel studs on one side and blew a tire on the other side. We had the "pleasure" of fixing it up at our grooming staging area before we were able to get it back to our clubhouse. Good times.🙄
Have a great summer!!
